Gear takes up a lot of space...

Not everyone has a large vehicle
No room to sleep in
Constant moving around, rearranging

hq720.jpg

Tent setup is time consuming

Lots of smaller parts (easily lost)
Tricky for one person to do alone
Other tools needed (mallet, tarp)

Sleeping on the ground is uncomfortable

Sleeping pads - close to ground
Takes time to inflate
Confined to narrow/small area

Concept

Not everyone has room to store an RV or trailer. I wanted to design a tent that could be stored outside the vehicle on a trailer hitch.

Smaller cars would have more room to pack other camping supplies.

Trailer hitches can be installed on most consumer cars, including small ones.

Home, anywhere.

Using GravitySketch to explore tent shapes:
Does it inflate? Fold? Pop up?

Configuration

Folding tents are easier to set up.
No complicated poles, stakes, or rings.

Legs elevate the bottom of the tent for more resting comfort.

Sleep tight

The tent floor is made up of sturdy foam pads supported by latticed straps.

Multiple legs on the tent allow for structural support (air mattresses, sleeping bags, etc) without the discomfort of hard ground.

Setup

Tent box attached to trailer hitch.

Folded tent stored in trailer box.

Tent can be unfolded from box and set up outside the vehicle.

Fold legs inward towards center

Fold platforms accordian-style

Fully compact
